Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) comes under the stream of Ayush. Considering the paramount importance of indigenous medicine system, the country concerned has encouraged it as an alternative system of medicine in rural areas. Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy, also known as AYUSH has gained momentum in various countries. AYUSH forms an integral backbone of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana in India and similar such programs in other countries; therefore thrust is accorded on the research and development. In an endeavor to step up quality and standards of AYUSH, some countries have created a separate ministry in its name. Government and few private hospitals nurture AYUSH as an alternative indigenous medicine to allopathy. Students interested in AYUSH have to choose science stream after completion of 10th and intensify their efforts to study it.
