New NEP rooted in `Bharatiyata` while assimilating global perspective: Amit Shah

Mr. Amit Shah, Union Home Minister said that National Education Policy 2020 is well rooted in "Bharatiyata" besides attempting to assimilate the global perspective.

He emphasizes that the policy enriches knowledge and culture and is aligned with the aspirations of society and is in sync with the roots of the pride country. The education policy has gained unprecedented acceptance from the entire country. The policy has clearly stated that a robust public education system is the foundation of a thriving democratic nation. 

The new education policy will develop citizens who combine national pride with global good under the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.  The term Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam is a Sanskrit phrase found in Hindu texts -the Maha Upanishad, which means the world is one family. He also stressed that NEP replaced Macaulay’s educational system (1986) and was imposed to colonize our minds. He also NEP 2020 will pave the way for transforming reforms within the schooling and higher education system to ensure that India has a global knowledge superpower.
